Incoming First Lady Liza Marcos has
been a part of Philippine elite even before marrying into one of the country’s
most prominent political families, coming from the wealthy Araneta clan.
Former Cebu Ports Authority
Commissioner Mike Acebedo Lopez shared a link to the detailed family tree of
the Aranetas as interest in Liza grows following the victory of her husband,
President-elect Ferdinand Marcos.
For starters,Liza is a second cousin
of former senator Mar Roxas, of Judy Araneta-Roxas and former Sen. Gerry Roxas,
the latter part of the original Liberal Party that opposed the dictatorship of
President Ferdinand Marcos. Judy is the daughter of J. Amado Araneta.

The website filipinogenealogy.com
revealed that Liza is the daughter of Manolet Araneta and Milagros Cacho.
Araneta was a basketball player and Olympian who represented the country, and
comes from the side of the family of Manuel S. Araneta.
Mar and Liza are again on opposing
sides of history in the May 2022 elections, with Liza’s camp now emerging as
the winner through her husband, president-elect Bongbong Marcos.
