“Killing is part of the territory when fighting the communists,” - Duterte

Months till his bowing down from Malacanang, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is still bent in ending if not totally weakening the New Peoples Army (NPA).

“Killing is part of the territory when fighting the communists,” the president said on the continuing efforts of the government in ending this senseless decade-long insurgency problem.

In his meeting with the National Task Force (NTF) and Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Lapu-Lapu City Thur, Duterte said the campaign against the insurgency remains “critical” in the remaining months of his administration.

“Our journey towards dismantling communist terrorist groups in the Philippines is still at a work of progress,” the President said, hoping that attempts to end armed conflict won’t go in vain even beyond his term.

The Filipino people, he added, deserve a “peaceful and prosperous” nation and that’s what the government should provide.

Meanwhile, the president took note and commended the NTF and the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict-Region VII “for collectively realizing the commitment of the government’s holistic and whole-of-the-nation approach” to addressing the root causes of insurgency.
