Missed opportunity to work together for the sake of the country.
Vice President Leni Robredo who is running for the position of
president said it was a missed opportunity that President Duterte did not see
it fit to set aside their differences so that both of them could have worked
together for the betterment of the country.
Robredo said despite the criticisms she has received from the
President as regards her capability to lead the country, she stressed that she
has no ill feelings towards Duterte.

“Siguro kung may nararamdaman man ako
ngayon, mas sayang. Mas sayang na kahit sana iba ‘yung pinanggalingan namin,
kahit sana iba ‘yung paniniwala namin sa napakaraming bagay (If I am feeling
anything now, it’s more of what a waste. What a waste that even if we are
coming from different backgrounds, even if we have different views on a lot of
things), from the very start iyong paniniwala ko talaga meron kaming pwedeng
pagkasunduan (I believe that we can agree on some things),” Robredo said on
“Ikaw Na Ba: The Presidential Interviews” on DZBB.
The Vice President lamented that she
had a lot of plans when she was appointed head of the Housing and Urban
Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
Robredo recounted that she even told
the President that she was happy their political differences had not become
hindrances for them to work together.
Her being part of the family was short lived
when she was asked to resign after she started criticizing Duterte’s brutal war
on drugs.
She also accepted the challenged of the
Chief Executive to co-chair the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs
(ICAD), but she was removed after only 18 days.
Asked if she thinks Duterte was
referring to her when he revealed that there is one 2022 presidential candidate
who “really cannot be a president,” Robredo said it could be her since the
Chief Executive had made similar criticisms against her in the past.
Robredo shrugs these criticisms from
the president and insists on the accomplishments in her public service record. Could
speak for themselves.
“Ako (Me), over the years napakita
natin iyon (I showed that) as vice president. Pero kahit noong nasa Kongreso
ako, kahit iyong wala pa ako sa Kongreso, pinakita ko kung nasaan ang puso ko,
pinakita ko ano iyong kaya kong gawin (But even when I was in Congress, even
when I was not in Congress yet, I showed where my heart is, I showed what I can
do),” she said.
