Handang handa: Korina ‘If there’s an offer, why not?’ open to joining Manny Villar’s Capamella network

The call of real estate mogul Manny Villar in his desire to form his dream team for his Advanced Media Broadcasting System Inc. (AMBS) news division is getting some traction

Veteran broadcaster Korina Sanchez has made known her willingness to heed the call of Villar to be part of his budding media empire following his acquisition of two frequencies previously assigned to ABS-CBN.

In an interview with the tabloid Abante, Sanchez said she is currently a free agent with blocktimer arrangements with ABS-CBN and TV5.

“I’m really more contracted with an independent content provider and blocktimer. So, if there’s an offer, why not? I’d love to be working again with the people who I came to know as my family, as I was growing up in the industry. So, why not?” she said.

Politiko’s sister site, Bilyonaryo, reported that Villar wants to hire Sanchez as part of Advanced Media Broadcasting System Inc. (AMBS) news division, along with other journalism icons like Arnold Clavio, Luchi Cruz Valdez and Noli De Castro.

Villar’s media arm, whose name has yet to be announced, has been jokingly called “Capamella Network,” a play on Camella Homes, his real estate company.

Currently, Sanchez’s “Rated Korina,” a weekly lifestyle show, currently airs on Kapamilya Network, A2Z, TV5 and One News.

The wife of former senator Mar Roxas said she continues to enjoy a good relationship with the Lopezes even if she’s no longer employed by the network. She also owes a lot to bilyonaryo politiko Albee Benitez.

“I owe Albee Benitez a lot because nung nagsarado ang ABS-CBN, hindi ako naghintay nang matagal, nagkatrabaho na ulit ang team ko, at ako mismo “He trusted me. They don’t meddle in anything of my content. They trust me. I deliver. They’re happy with our output. And I’ve been renewed for a year,” Sanchez said.

The broadcaster-host said the emergence of new players in the media industry is better for the public.

“That’s where quality will emerge. Because right now, the competition landscape is not balanced,” she said. “May iba na ang lakas ng transmission. ‘Yung iba, ang gaganda ng programa, ang hina naman ng transmission. Tapos, merong may frequency, merong wala. Pero meron na ngayong streaming.”
