Endorsement of
religious groups is a big edge especially if the position being aspired for is
a national seat in government.
The UniTeam of Ferdinand
Marcos and Inday Sara Duterte was able to get the endorsement of El Shaddai
leader Bro. Mike Velarde,
“Ang sisigaw ninyo, ‘Bro. Mike the choice is yours,'” the religious leader told the El Shaddai members, before raising the hands of Marcos and Duterte.

Velarde backed the
Marcos Jr-Duterte tandem, citing their message of unity as well as their
potential to lead the country. “After all, napagbigyan na natin ‘yung mga
kalaban ni Marcos ng maraming taon, diba? Baka naman ito may magawang mabuti
that’s why I’ve chosen them,” he said.
Marcos and Duterte
were among the select candidates invited to attend the El Shaddai’s assembly.
Senatorial bets Mark Villar and former PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar were also seen on stage with
Velarde.
In 2016, the El
Shaddai group endorsed the presidential bid of then Vice President Jejomar
Binay and vice-presidential bid of then Senator Marcos. Both politikos lost in
the elections.
