The political landscape is changing
so fast and lines between those who will they vote for are being told in
public.
As always the Philippine national
election is without funfare, administration backed candidates and those from
the opposition are at it, but since physical movement is restricted by the
pandemic all the battles are being waged online.
Here is a post written by Atty. Josephus Jimenez in the Freeman who describes himself as a Former Labor Undersecretary. Labor Attaché for 7 years. Champion of workers. Admired by HR practitioners. Wherein he states his reason why the Philippines cannot afford another Marcos seating in Malacanang as president

we have quoted in full said article below:
OPINION: With Marcos, this nation
might regret again
Ferdinand Marcos Sr. promised in 1965
that this nation shall be great again. And after martial law we did regret
instead. If Bongbong Marcos wins, with his billions and with his thousands of
trolls, and they can rewrite history by convincing the voters that the martial
law years were the golden era in Philippine history, many well-meaning
Filipinos, I promise you this, will apply for permanent resident status and
ultimately, naturalization in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand.
This nation cannot afford another Marcos.
Well, the thousands of victims of
martial law have not been given justice, including those whose husbands,
brothers, sons, and other relatives disappeared or were tortured and killed.
The alleged billions in unexplained Swiss accounts and other foreign deposits
have not been recovered by the government. In other words, justice had not been
served. The Marcoses were driven out of Malacañang in 1986 by an angry nation,
aided, in fact, by the US government, which was already convinced by palpable
evidence that Ferdinand Marcos had totally lost the legal right and moral
authority to exercise the powers of the presidency after more than 20 years,
the longest and the most controversial presidency.
The Marcos presidency was
controversial because it exceeded the limits that were set forth in the 1935
Constitution, the only legitimate fundamental law before the 1986 Constitution.
He was allowed to stay as president only from 1965 to 1969 for his first term
and from 1969 to 1973 for his second term. But in 1972, he called for a
Constitutional Convention dominated by his minions, subalterns, and underlings,
and manipulated the amendments by shifting to parliamentary and unicameral just
to justify the prolongation of his rule. Then it was reverted to the presidency
again and bicameral back to where we started. The Constitution was not properly
ratified as it was merely by raising of hands or viva voce and not by secret
voting.
Bongbong Marcos is the son of the
dictator and he cannot claim that the sins of the father should not be deemed
the sins of the son because he benefited from all his father's acts and
decisions. He inherited the Marcos wealth, including the controversies that
becloud them. And he never contradicted his father whom he virtually worshiped
and held on a pedestal until now. It was his father who illegally arrested or
caused the arrest of Ninoy Aquino, Jose W. Diokno, Lorenzo Tañada, and many
other Filipinos, including our own Serge Osmeña who escaped from incarceration,
together with Geny Lopez of ABS-CBN and Meralco.
It was Marcos who stifled dissent,
caused arrests without a warrant, and detained without any charge much less
conviction thousands of Filipinos, and used martial law to destroy the
businesses of his political enemies, and closed many TV and radio networks
owned by the opposition. If they would call all those dark years as the golden
era, and if the people would still believe all those canards, lies, and
deceits, then I will join the many Filipinos who shall leave this country and
die abroad. I have offered no less than 20 years in public service, helping
laborers and OFWs. But if Bongbong wins, I shall abandon all in this country
and start zero abroad, together with my family.
This nation does not deserve a
pretender to the national leadership. People who love this country should do
their very best to help the only true opposition. I do not know about you but
as for me and my house, we shall follow a moral, ethical, honest, and competent
leader. I will stake everything to avoid a situation where this nation will
regret again. Pink is the only genuine opposition. It is the only honorable
option.
