Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo has downplayed the 9
out of 17 mayors supporting the bid of Davao city mayor Sara Duterte for the
Vice Presidency.
In a press conference, the
oppositions standard bearer for the 2022 national elections said the said the
mayors' promise to back Duterte-Carpio will have no impact on her campaign,
which has been transformed into a crusade and a people's movement.

Duterte-Carpio,
the running mate of Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., had a lunch
meeting with the mayors after she and Marcos led a motorcade of supporters in
Quezon City last Wednesday.
VP Robredo
said that in each province she visits, there is a people's council where she
meets and talks with delegates from various sectors.
"May
issue o wala, may involvement ang tao (Whether there is an issue or not, the
people are always involved)," the VP said.
