1Sambayan picks Leni Robredo as its presidential candidate for 2022 elections

 

Its Vice President Leni Robredo for the presidency for the 2022 national elections.

 

She was chosen by the opposition coalition group 1Sambayan as its presidential candidate for the 2022 national elections.

“1Sambayan is pleased to announce to the nation that it has reached a decision to endorse Vice President Leni Robredo as its presidential candidate for the May 2022 elections,”retired senior associate justice Antonio Carpio, the group’s lead convenor, said during the program.

“1Sambayan followed a rigorous process in reaching its decision. We consulted our local and foreign chapters as well as our partners together with our three million members,” he added.

 

VP Robredo hasn’t decided yet what her political plans are.

Earlier, Robredo also emerged as the top choice of 1Sambayan to be its standard-bearer in 2022, while former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV was the top pick for vice president.

 

This was based on an internal survey conducted by the coalition from September 12 to 25.
