The team to beat if the elections was to be held at this time
is the father and daughter tandem of Davao Mayor Inday Sara and President
Rodrigo Duterte for the position of president and vice president respectively.
In the latest survey released by the OCTA Research
Group, conducted from July 12 to 18 with the results released on Tuesday, Aug.
3, showed that Duterte-Carpio is the preferred presidential bet of 28% of the
1,200 respondents.
Far away is the second place former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (13%), Manila Mayor
Isko Moreno (11%), Sen. Grace Poe (10%), Sen. Manny Pacquiao (10%), Vice
President Leni Robredo (5%) and former speaker and Taguig Rep. Alan Peter
Cayetano (5%).

Trailing them were Sen. Bong Go
(4%), Senate President Vicente Sotto III (3%), Sen. Panfilo Lacson (2%), former
vice president Jejomar Binay (2%), Sen. Richard Gordon (1%) and former senator
Antonio Trillanes (1%).
Taking to account the geographic areas Inday
Sara enjoys a big support from respondents
living in Mindanao (59%), the Visayas (23%) and Balance Luzon (19%).
Marcos was the preferred bet
among respondents in Metro Manila (23%), closely followed by Moreno (22%).
Duterte-Carpio also has the highest support across all socio-economic classes.
For the second highest position in the land, current and sitting President
Rodrigo Roa Duterte led potential candidates with 18%, followed by Moreno
(11%), Cayetano (10%), Poe (10%), Marcos (9%), Sotto (7%), Pacquiao (6%),
former senator and Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero (5%), Go (4%), Lacson (4%)
and Trillanes (2%).
Obtaining 1% each were Gordon,
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, human rights
lawyer Chel Diokno, Sen. Ralph Recto, Ormoc City Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez and
Robredo.
The elder Duterte had the
highest support among respondents from Mindanao (39%) and Metro Manila (18%),
while Cayetano obtained the highest support in the Visayas (16%).
Poe, Moreno and Duterte are
statistically tied among respondents in Balance Luzon, with 13%, 12% and 11%,
respectively.
OCTA’s “Tugon ng Masa” survey
was conducted using multi-stage probability sampling using face-to-face
interviews with adult respondents. It had a margin of error of +/- 3% with 95%
confidence level.
