Detained opposition senator Leila
De Lima slams President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for being double standard as
regards to the issue of corruption in government.
De Lima is referring to the Commission
on Audit over its audit reports despite launching an anti-corruption campaign,
Duterte rebuked the former.
In a statement
released, De Lima called Duterte’s critical statements on corruption “a
hypocritical attempt at pandering.”

“Sabi siya nang sabi
na galit siya sa korapsyon pero hindi naman niya sinusuportahan ang COA na
siyang pangunahing ahensya na nagsusuri sa tama o maling paggastos ng gobyerno
sa pera ng taumbayan,” the senator said.
The opposition senator
and former Department of Justice Secretary said all government agencies should
account for their budget because they are spending public funds.
“If they cannot comply
with the law, then they have no business spending our money,” she said.
Duterte slammed COA
earlier this week for “flagging” several questionable transactions of various
government agencies in the annual audit reports released by the commission. The
President even told Cabinet members to “ignore” the COA’s audit reports.
