The Vice President in her weekly radio show calls
on the Duterte administration to take notice on the quality of education the
country has right now.
VP Leni Robredo is echoing the calls of several
groups for government to declare an education crisis to be able to respond to
what the country needs which was worsened by the pandemic brought about by the
coronavirus.
The call comes after the World Bank publicly
announced in their report that 80% of Filipino students do not meet the
learning standards in their respective grade levels.

World Bank apologized for inadvertently publishing
its findings before giving the Department of Education time to respond.
In her radio show, Robredo notes that the
government should addressed the pressing concerns and gaps as identified in the
report.
"We should declare an education crisis because
our problems only grow worse when we are slow to react," Robredo told dZXL
in FIlipino. "Rather than being defensive, we should be looking for
solutions."
"Let's do everything we can to subvert this
crisis," Robredo added. "It's the children who would really suffer if
we don't do this."
The ice president said there is a lot of room for
us to improve the current set up.
"Children have been away from school for more
than a year now," the vice president said. "So I think this has been
exacerbated or the situation has grown worse. I hope I am wrong."
