Let it be known that they are one of the contenders for the
top 2 positions of the country in the general elections in 2022.
Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson will run for president in the
2022 national elections alongside Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
In an interview with CNN Philippines
Tuesday (July 20), Sotto said he and Lacson will formally
announce their candidacies on August 4.

“Perhaps you can already read between the lines
that the answer is yes,” Sotto said.
It has been reported that the two senators have
been going around the country in recent weeks to learn about people’s concerns
in the run up to next year’s elections.
Sotto is unfazed by his and Lacson’s current
standing in voter preference surveys, which showed them behind other
presidential and vice presidential contenders.
“The surveys they are getting is not really
reflective of what might happen on the 2nd monday of May. So it depends sa
ating mga kababayan,” he said.
What is their advantage over other candidates? The
Senate President said he and Ping Lacson have been serving the government for a
combined 83 years—longer than other potential bets for president and vice
president.
“Let me sum it up in three words on what we can
offer: Kakayahan, Katapatan, Katapangan,” he said.
“Kakayahan, we have track records that we can
do it, we are capable. Katapatan we are sincere, we are honest. integrity
speaks for itself,” Sotto added.
