"We are proud of you as would be your mom and dad": Roxas mourns PNoy's death

 

Former senator Mar Roxas cannot hide his sadness as regards the untimely death of his pal former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Roxas who also served as Department of Interior of Local Government (DILG) secretary lauded the performance of the former chief executive.

"You did all that you could and left things so much better than how you found them. Our country moved up and was respected all over the world. It's all anyone can ask," he said.

It might be remembered that Roxas gave way to Noynoy his Liberal Party mate for the 2010 presidential race following a public clamor for the latter to lead the nation after the death of former President Corazon Aquino in August 2009.

He ran for the Vice presidency but lost to Jejomar Binay.

Roxas ran for the presidency in 2016, with the official endorsement of Aquino, but lost to incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte.                                                    

The former President had been undergoing dialysis 3 times a week in preparation for a kidney transplant before his death, according to a friend of their family. He was 61.

"PNoy", as he was fondly called, assumed power in 2010 on an anti-corruption platform.

"We are proud of you as would be your mom and dad," Roxas said.

"Damo gid nga salamat (Thank you very much). Halong (Take care). We miss you already," Roxas said.
