PhH Navy deploys new frigate BRP Antonio Luna (FF151) to Palawan

 

 

The Philippine Navy (PN) just announced that it is deploying BRP Antonio Luna (FF151) one of its modern frigate to Naval Forces West (NAVFORWEST) in Palawan.

A send-off ceremony was held at Pier 13 with the Philippine Navy Flag Officer-in-Command Rear Admiral Adeluis Bordado as the presiding officer. Philippines Fleet commander Rear Admiral Alberto Carlos was also present during the ceremony.

BRP Antonio Luna, skippered by Navy Captain Charles Merric Villanueva, was recently declared to be in high state of operational readiness after successfully complying all pre-deployment requirements. After completing its logistical fill-up, the frigate will be deployed in Naval Forces West, the Philippine Navy said.

Philippine Navy chief Bordado urged the officers and sailors of FF151, “who will sail one of the most advanced platforms that will fly the national ensign” to “sail boldly.”

“I want you to know how much pride and honor you carry and magnify for the entire Command by carrying the Philippine flag during your first and most challenging mission yet. Make waves, bow, and winds obey,” added Bordado.

This is BRP Antonio Luna’s first official mission since its arrival in the country and commissioning under Offshore Combat Force (OCF).
