I Never Promised I Would Retake West Philippine Sea (WPS) –PRRD

 

The President is making things clear as against the continuous barrage of criticisms lashed out by his political enemies in the media, all of which are about his government’s handling of the West Philippine Sea (WPS) issue.

 

In his May 3 addressed he said that he never promised to retake the West Philippine Sea.

“I never, never in my campaign as president promised the people that I would retake the West Philippine Sea. I did not promise that I would pressure China,” President Duterte said.

“I never mentioned about China and the Philippines in my campaign because that was a very serious matter,” he added.

The President noted that “we need to have a diplomatic talkatise diyan.”

“Eh hindi ako diyan — nandiyan sa ating Foreign Affairs, trabaho nila ‘yan. I never… Kayo, you pretended to work on it. Ako, wala kasi wala naman akong — I never promised anything. Just because I’m President gusto ninyo makipag-away ako. Walang kuwestiyon ‘yan. Maski ngayon mayroon tayong barko diyan ngayon sa ano. Sabi ko stay put kayo,” he said.

“China remains to be our benefactor and just because — if I may just add something to the narrative — just because we have a conflict with China does not mean to say that we have to be rude and disrespectful,” President Duterte said.

“As a matter of fact, we have many things to thank China for the help in the past and itong mga tulong nila ngayon. China, I know President Xi Jinping, because I was blunt in my — unang kita namin sinabi ko na kaagad about our resources diyan sa West Philippine Sea,” he added.

“Sabi ko alam ko na may dalawang taong maingay. Sabi nga ni Xi Jinping na ah alam namin. Iyong ‘yong dalawang si Albert pati si Carpio ang nagregalo sa amin niyang mga islands mo eh. Niregalo, namimigay ang mga p*. Tapos you have the temerity to blame anybody for your — in diplomatic term “faux pas”,” Duterte said.
