The Philippine Navy(PN) is doing everything in its limited capacity to
fulfill its mandate as regards the West Philippine Sea(WPS).
In response to the current volatile situation in the area, it was
announced that the Philippine Navy’s Jacinto-class corvette BRP Apolinario
Mabini (PS-36) has deployed to West Philippine Sea.
“Answering the call of duty, BRP Apolinario Mabini
(PS36) arrived [in] Puerto Princesa City on 12 April 2021 to augment the
efforts of Western Command to intensify the Philippines presence in West
Philippine Sea,” BRP Apolinario Mabini’s public information office said.

“This in support to the Philippine Governments claim in the area,” it
added.
This is the new assignment for the BRP Apolinario Mabini as it was previously
deployed in Eastern Mindanao securing the are in the Philippine-Indonesia
border.
“She is one of three Peacock Class patrol gun boats that was acquired by
the Philippine Navy from the British Navy in1997,” PS36 PIO added.
