President Rodrigo Roa
Duterte fires back at his critics with respect to the West Philippine Sea issue.
He made sure to slam
former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio who has been publicly
accusing the President of having no sense of urgency on the continued presence
of Chinese vessels at the Julian Felipe Reef.
In the nationally
televised recording of his address, President Duterte called Carpio a “dreamer,”
saying the constructive occupation by China of the West Philippine Sea happened
during the administration of former President Benigno “Pnoy” Aquino III.

Duterte was referring to the 2012 standoff at Scarborough Shoal between the Philippines and China. Then Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Albert del Rosario ordered the country’s vessels to pull out while Chinese ships stayed put.
“May isang barko doon
nagpadala tayo. There was a standoff. A standoff that was maybe going to a
violent stage sa… Alam mo, ang nagpaalis sa atin, ang Amerika. Ang usapan ang
Pilipinas mag-retreat, ang China mag-retreat. Ang ginawa ng China hindi
nag-retreat, ang Pilipinas ang nag-retreat,” according to him.
“Ang pagador noon si
Del Rosario. Iyan, tandaan mo ‘yan Carpio. Sige ka daldal. The constructive
occupation was completed. It was a notice to the world na noong hindi sila
umalis, tayo ang umalis, ibig sabihin amin ‘to kaya ka umalis,” said Duterte.
“Kung anong
pinagdadaldal, he’s a dreamer. I’ll give you 100 years, you can never get
something there maski isang basong tubig sa China ngayon. Tapos sige kayo
intriga sa Pilipino. Sabi ko nga ano bang gusto ninyo? Sige, tell me what to do
except ‘yong mga papel-papel ninyo. Walang kakuwenta na ‘yan,” he added.
