Bayan Muna solon slams ‘red tagging’ of community pantry organizers

House Deputy Minority leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate slams the Duterte administration for its reported harassmen and red-tagging of community pantries.

“Why are you terrorizing those showing solidarity and concern for our poor people?

The Akbayan solon asked the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) or National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) issued a memorandum for the police to question organizers of community pantry.

He said that police profiling “is not only shamelessly inhuman” but also violating the right to privacy of the organizers.

“Who are unchristian now? Sana bumalik naman sa inyo ang tumakas na ninyong sense of humanity and compassion,” Zarate added. “Profiling of community pantries have no basis and we will have this draconian move of the police investigated.

In another note, anonthr partylist solon Gabriela representative Arlene Brosas reiterated her call for Congress to pass the P10K Ayuda bill.

“The spread of community pantries is a scathing indictment of Duterte’s failed pandemic response and outright refusal to provide sufficient cash subsidy despite trillions in loans.
