This was supposed to
be one of those community pantries that was established to help those who have
less in life.
Inspired by the
different community pantries in the different parts of the country which exudes
the Filipino Bayanihan spirit, the only difference is that it was organized by
actress Angel Locsin in her celebration of her 36 birthday.
Thousands flocked to Brgy,
Holy Spirit in Quezon City as superstar actress Angel Locsin launched her very
own community pantry as part of her birthday celebration ( April 23)

During the night of
April 22, it was announced that her community panty will be open from 10AM to
4PM or until supplies last and reminded the people to follow the government
health protocols in battling COVID-19.
As early as 2AM hundreds
of people flocked the pantry, after a few hours the numbers swelled to
thousands with the line said to have reached until Commonwealth Avenue.
“Patuloy pa ring
dumarating ang mga tao. Sabi po ng coordinator, kapatid (ni Angel Locsin) na
good for 300 lang po ang kanilang prinepare, (kaso) dinagsa kasi nabasa sa
Facebook,” said Rannie Ludovica, head of Quezon City Task Force Disiplina, in
an interview with Manila Bulletin.
Because of the sheer
number, social distancing was no longer observed.
During mid day it was
reported that Rolando Dela Cruz, a 67-year-old
Locsin
apologized for the flock of people in her community pantry, saying even
authorities who were helping them had a hard time enforcing COVID-19 protocols.
“Hindi po ito ang
gusto ko. Nagsimula po kami nang maayos po ang aming layunin, pati po ang pagpaplano
ng social distancing. Nagkataon lang po talaga na siguro gutom lang po talaga
’yung tao na kahit wala po sa pila, sumingit po sila. Sa mga nagambala ko po
dito, pasensya na po. Hindi po ito ang intensyon ko,” said Locsin.
“Sa mga hindi po
nabigyan, ’di po mabibigyan today, nais ko pong magbigay ng pasensya po
gustuhin ko man pong mag-abot, I don’t think papayagan pa ako ulit para gawin
‘to. Baka po ipahatid na lang po kung anong matitirang goods namin dito sa area
para mapakinabangan po,” said Locsin.
