PRRD thanks SoKor for For Support On Defense Modernization

 

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte thanked long time ally South Korea this was because of he latter’s support in modernizing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“I thank your Government for supporting our defense modernization program. Today marks the delivery of the BRP Antonio Luna — that is the frigate. This demonstrates our nations’ mutual commitment to peace and security in our region,” President Rodrigo Duterte said during the presentation of credentials of South Korea Ambassador to Philippines Kim In-Chul last week (February 10).

The Philippine president said that “over the past seven decades, our ties have grown from strength to greater strength.”

“We forged a special bond. We shared the struggle for and defense of freedom and democratic values during the Korean War,” he added. “And together we continue to achieve more. Today, we remain committed to pursue shared aspirations for our peoples.”

“Let us sustain the momentum of our robust cooperation in trade and investment, sustainable development, infrastructure and [integration], and defense. We value your country’s exceptional commitment to the Philippines’ Build, Build, Build program,” he said.

The President also took the opportunity to thanked South Korea for its assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic and past typhoons.
