Duterte slams Robredo: "I think that you need a refresher course sa law”

 

The Vice President was the recipient of a tongue lashing from the President of the republic.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave an unsolicited advice to Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, and that is the latter should take a referesher course in law.

The President made the statement after Robredo called Duterte an extortionist for floating the idea that the United States to pay the Philippines for the continuation of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA).

“Kung mag Presidente ka, if by unfortunate chance you’ll become the President, please study more. I think that you need a refresher course sa law,” Duterte said in his weekly public address.

“That is my advice to you. You don’t use this word extortion when we say you pay. Dapat talagang magbayad. Anong tingin mo sa Pilipinas, colony ng Amerika? Basta libre na lang lahat?” he added.

Duterte reminded Robredo that it’s the sole duty of the President to make decisions on foreign policy.

“The Constitution of the Philippines provides that foreign relations or foreign policy is vested in the President alone.

“Every time she opens her mouth, she forgets that she’s a lawyer, and, being a lawyer, she does not know that the Constitution says that that is my function and that is not their function, at kung anong gusto kong sabihin para sa aking bayan may purpose yan,” he added.
