The ongoing red tagging issue between the Armed Forces of the
Philippines and the progressive groups lawmakers in the House of Representatives
has gone up a notch when the youngest daughter of Bayan Muna party-list Rep.
Eufemia Cullamat - Jevilyn Cullamat was killed in a military encounter in
Surigao Del Norte.
The President in his latest public address
for the nation challenged self-exiled founding chairman of the Communist Party
of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) Jose Maria Sison to a debate on
communist ideology.
The President claims that the CPP-NPA has no
ideology and that the only thing in their minds has always been the overthrowing
of the duly established government.

“Communal war ito,
there is no longer an ideology. Komunista ito, wala nang ideology…Gusto lang
nila umagaw ng gobyerno. Mga bobo naman ang p*t*ng*n*. Sinong bright, si Sison?
Iharap mo sa akin magdebate kami. Anong nakuha mo diyan sa ideology na
communism,” the President said in a televised address.
“You are accusing us of
red-tagging you. No. The Armed Forces of the Philippines is very correct. You
are being identified as being members of the Communist (Party of the
Philippines). Alam namin. ‘Yun ang totoo. Hindi red-tagging,” he also said.
In 2018, President Duterte
issued Executive Order 70 that created the National Task Force to end local
communist armed conflict and adopt a national peace framework in a bid to end
the decades-long conflict.
