The Philippine Navy (PN)
is doing its part in the relief and humanitarian and relief assistance efforts
when the Naval Forces Central through Naval Task Group (NTF) 50 deployed
its operational control floating asset, navy vessel BRP Batak (LC299).
BRP Batak (LC299) will
be transporting Cebu City Local Government Unit (LGU) humanitarian and relief
assistance intended for the affected families of recent Super Typhoon “Rolly”
in the province of Catanduanes , it left Cebu last November 13.
A simple ceremony was
attended by Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella and attended by Commander Naval
Forces Central, Commodore Dorvin Jose L Legaspi PN, Navy Captain Emmanuel
Eugenio C Bello PN(GSC), Deputy Commander, NFC and Commander, NTF50, they personally
inspected and handed-over the consolidated humanitarian and relief assistance
consists of 500 sacks of 50kls rice, disaster response, and relief team along
with a medical team and ambulance to aid assistance to the needs of typhoon-hit
communities in Catanduanes.

BRP Batak (LC299) is skippered by Cmdr. Dexter A
Caga-anan PN along with his crew on board together with Cebu City Local
Government Humanitarian Assistance and Relief Team is currently underway to
provide needed logistical materials to our fellow countrymen in Southern Luzon.
The said activity was conducted in accordance with Inter-Agency Task Force
guidance on biosafety and health protocols.
Central Command,
through Naval Forces Central in partnership with Cebu City local government
units and other non-government units, is in one with the whole nation in
providing prompt, responsive, and effective humanitarian and relief assistance
to any untoward calamity or disaster amid ongoing pandemic.
