This is one of the biggest military upgrades done under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

As reported in the Facebook Page of MaxDefense an “Antonov An-124 Ruslan, flight ADB3516, transporting Philippine Air Force (PAF)’s first five of sixteen ordered S-70i Black Hawk combat utility helicopters (CUHs), landed at Clark International Airport few minutes after 9:30 am today, November 9.”

The said cargo airplane made a stop in Kuwait before flying straight to the Philippines.

“The flight took 3 days: Departure from Jasionka/Rzeszów Airport (Nov. 7) via Kuwait Int’l (Nov. 8),” the Polish Embassy in the Philippines said.

“The purchase of 16 S-70i combat-utility helicopters manufactured by the Polish Aviation Works-Mielec (PZL-Mielec) is an excellent example of cooperation between our two countries,” said JarosÅ‚aw Szczepankiewicz, chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Manila.

As previously reported, Polish embassy noted that 16 Black Hawks were ordered under PAF’s Combat Utility Helicopter (Phase 3) Acquisition Project under the Duterte administration, which is a Horizon 2 phase priority project under the current Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Project.
