Bayanhihan spirit has never been needed most especially
now that a lot of our countrymen are still in need of help days after the typhoon
Ulysses wrecked almost the entire island of Luzon.
Here is a story of a person with Persons With
Disability (PWD) doing what is needed to be done despite of his current
situation.
Here is the story of Mang Romy Menil, a PWD who
begged in the streets not for himself but for the typhoon Ulysses victims.(photo credit to owner)
Netizen Jazz Pher Justo says in his Facebook post
in the Marikina community Facebook group, saw Mang Romy Menil hand over to coins
and bills amounting to ₱12,390 to
Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro for the victims of typhoon Ulysses in the city.
“Imbes na ilaan at gastusin niya para sa
kanyang pangangailangan, ito ay kanyang ibinigay para sa mga taga-Marikina na
nasalanta ng bagyong Ulysses,” Justo writes. “Sobrang nakaka-inspire. Sana
tularan pa ng iba.”
Justo, a volunteer at the Marikina City Hall,
says he saw Mang Romy holding a cane and was being guided by a man inside the
building. He thought Mang Romy was going to ask for help, but instead he was
the one who gave help to those in need.
“Halos lahat ng nandoon ay medyo naiyak dahil isang PWD na namamalimos akala
natin ay manghihingi ng tulong. Siya pa pala yung magbibigay ng tulong para sa
mga taga-Marikina,” Justo says. He adds Mang Romy is a stroke victim and lives
in Barangay Mambugan in Antipolo City.
