A former member of the armed wing of the
Communist Party of the Philippines’-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) slammed the
Kabataan Partylist Representative Sarah Elago for allegedly continuing to
mislead young people in schools so they would join the armed group.
In a press briefing at the Eastern
Mindanao Headquarters on Thursday, alias Alem spoke and urged the Kabataan-List
Party to stop their propaganda against the government in recruiting members of
the armed group.

“Tigilan na ninyo ang panloloko ninyo sa mga kabataan na
tulad ko (Stop deceiving young people like me),” she said.
Alem claims that Elago has been allegedly been living in a luxurious
life despite being a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
“Katulad ko dati na nalinlang niyo din para mapasampa sa NPA
ohabang kayo po andyan sa mga kwarto niyo nagpapa-aircon nandiyan sa mga
magagandang sasakyan (Just like me before and others, you fooled us so that we
will become NPA while you are living in your airconditioned rooms with
expensive cars),” she said.
Alem clais that Elago should be compassionate and hear those mothers who are looking for their children
that has been recruited by the armed rebel group.
“Napakarami na po ng buhay na nasira dahil po sa mga
propaganda ninyo at isa ako doon (A lot of lives were wasted because of your
propaganda and I am one of them),” she said.
Alem reveals that she was a 16 year old student in Polytechnic
University of the Philippines (PUP) when she was enticed to join the League of
Filipino Students (LFS) in 2014.
Being a LFS member they were showed the flaws of the country
where the rich exploits the poor people.
In 2016, she became a member of the CPP and they campaigned
for the congressional seat for the Kabataan Partylist. They were made to
believe that having a seat in Congress they party will reveal the flaws of the
government, In 2017 she became a full pledged member of the NPA and went to Davao
del Norte along with the participants of the Manilakbayan. During her stint in
the armed group, she said she saw the alleged harassments and violence of the
NPA against the civilians.
She came to her realization that these acts were not what the
group taught her when she was an student activist. With this, she decided to
surrender to the Philippine Army in 2018 and started a new life.
