Death Of Jevilyn Cullamat Reminder Of ‘Fruitless Armed Conflict’ Perpetrated By ‘Communist Terrorists’ – Defense Chief Lorenzana

 

The death of the 22 year old NPA rebel Jevilyn Cullamat in a military encounter has turned into the propaganda galore between the government forces and that of groups which are sympathetic to the leftist movement represented by the Communist Party of the Philippines- New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenza made the statement that the death of the young NPA Rebel Jevilyn Cullamat is hard reminder of the “Fruitless Armed Conflict” being pursued by the “Communist Terrorists”.

“The death of 22 year-old armed rebel Jevilyn Cullamat during an encounter between the New People’s Army (NPA) and government forces is a grim reminder of the effects of the fruitless armed conflict perpetrated by these communist terrorist groups,” Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana said in a statement.

The military has reported that Jevilyn Cullamat, youngest daughter of Bayan Muna Partylist Representative Eufemia Cullamat, was killed during her NPA group’s encounter with 3rd Special Forces Battalion (3SFBn) on November 28 at Brgy. San Isidro, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. Jevilyn was reportedly serving as medic for the NPA group, Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) Platoon of Guerilla Front 19, Northeastern Regional Committee (NEMRC).

Lorenzana said the military troops in the same encounter immediately evacuated Cullamat’s cadaver from the encounter site.

“The military has also readily coordinated and provided transporation as well as security assistance to the Cullamat family. I have instructed the responding units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to ensure that that the NPA casualty is treated with dignity,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

“We call on our representatives in the Makabayan Bloc and all those who condone the atrocities committed by the NPA to denounce the divisive ideology that destroys lives and property,” he added. “Let this incident bring to the fore the duplicity of the communist terrorist movement, whose members in the higher echelons pit Filipinos against fellow Filipinos. The public can rest assured that our troops shall remain vigilant and ready to defend our communities against the communist terrorists whose only goal is to sow hatred and violence.”
