NATIONAL Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. has made it public that he is for the government with respect to the red tagging of suspected personalities linked to communist groups.
Esperon is referring to Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. and Communications Undersecretary Loraine Badoy, spokesmen for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), and said that they were only “telling the truth” when they gave their statements.

According to the National Security Adviser, Lt. Genral Parlade was merely
saying that the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its armed wing,
the New People’s Army (NPA), have its “front organizations” that are connected
with their “underground” groups like the Kalipunan ng Gurong Makabayan
(Kaguma), the Confederation of Migrant and Patriotic Filipinos, the Kabataang
Makabayan, the Malayang Kilusan ng Bagong Kababaihan (Makibaka) and the
Makabayang Kawani ng Pilipino.
Esperon further explains that these groups have connections with some
progressive groups ahich are “front organizations” such as the
Alliance of Concerned Teachers, Migrante, League of Filipino Students,
Anakbayan, Kabataan party-list, College Editors Guild of the Philippines,
Gabriela and even the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers.
Esperon said, “It is
just now that we are seeing and have spokespersons who are speaking the truth
and the whole nation must wake up already. What do we really want? Do we really
want to extend the 52 years of CPP-NPA disrupting peace or do we want to end this?”
