The Philippines will have to make
a stand in the ever volatile West Philippine Sea (WPS).
We cannot say that China is 100%
friendly with the Philippines and to be fair so with the United States of
America (USA).
But in the long run we really have
to make a choice and stop being neutral, we have to choose the pill we have to
take.

Respected MaxDefense Facebook Page
in his post said the Philippines can never be neutral and that we really need
to modernize our Armed Forces really fast.

improve our defense capability, enough to make it difficult for China to take
over our territories, and enough to keep them at bay while waiting for support

This is exactly what MaxDefense has
been saying for the longest time. That the Philippines cannot be neutral, and
cannot rely on the goodwill of other countries.
In an assessment by former AFP Chief
of Staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista (ret), the Philippines will be invaded by China
if a war between the US and China would occur. This is because we are
strategically located in the South China Sea and Western Pacific region.
This is even more true if the war
involves China seizing our territories in the West Philippine Sea.
What Gen. Bautista didn't also say is
that the US is also expected to take over certain Philippine territories if we
try to take a neutral stance, or if we do not cooperate or meet our obligations
under the 1951 RP-US MDT to assist the US.
Another scenario is that the US would
probably try to stop a Chinese invasion of the Philippines, or will attack Chinese
troops in the Philippines should the Chinese be successful in their invasion..
In all of these scenarios, only 1 is
certain: the Philippines will definitely be involved. We can't be neutral, or
else one or both countries will attack us to use our strategic position to
thejr advantage.
