PH Air Force (PAF) expecting arrival of 6 brand new aircraft this month

The Philippines’ brand new warbirds are on its way home from its origin in Brazil.

During the House of Representatives committee hearing on 2021 proposed budget of Department of National Defense (DND), Philippine Air Force (PAF) chief Lieutenant General Allen T. Paredes said, they are expecting the arrival of 6 their brand new aircrafts this month.

The PAF chief Lieutenant General Allen T. Paredes made the statement in the House committee hearing when asked how the organization will reach the target of having 173 supportable aircraft.

“For the number of supportable aircraft to be maintained at 173, this is originally from 154 in 2019. From 154 we are now 160. We expect the arrival of 6 more aircraft this month and another seven aircraft by the end of this year,” Lieutenant General Paredes said.

Last week, the six brand new PAF-bound Embraer A-29B Super Tucanos reportedly started flying out of mainland Brazil to Manila.

In one of its PAF’s publications it stated that they are “expecting the delivery of six (6) Super Tucano Close Attack Aircraft from Brazil this year. This will be another game changing aircraft that will enhance the attack capability of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines).”

According to Embraer, the aircraft in PAF service will be deployed for close air support, light attack, surveillance, air-to-air interception, and counterinsurgency missions.

“We are honored to be selected by the Philippine Air Force, our second operator in the Asia-Pacific region, and with the confidence expressed by our customer,” said Jackson Schneider, president and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security in 2017. “The Super Tucano is the best light attack aircraft in the market and we are confident that it will accomplish with excellence the missions it was selected for.”
