Yes, its not brand new, but will be of great help to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) if the deal pushes through.

During the 68th anniversary celebration of the 20th Tactical Helicopter Wing, Philippine Air Force (PAF) Air Mobility Command (AMC) commander Major General Simeon Felix Jr. made mentioned of the 21 recently retired UH-1H from South Korea being eyed to beef up the PAF inventory.

“Despite the emerging challenges it is with great hope that the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing sees a bright future with your brand new platforms like the S-76i Black Hawk that will be coming this fourth quarter, 6 of the Black Hawks will be coming, and the 21 UH-1H from Korea,” Major General Felix said.

It was reported last July, the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army retired its fleet of UH-1H utility helicopters with the entry of the locally manufactured KAI KUH-1 Surion helicopters as replacements.

In a report published by Inquirer.net, a senior official said that the UH-1H helicopter acquisition from South Kores is still being negotiated adding the acquisition would also need approval from the United States of America as these Vietnam war veteran helicopters originated.
