The Solicitor General is like a blood hound
that has picked up another smell in the Supreme Court (SC).
But this time there is a sparkplug so to speak that
is asking the help of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG).
A letter from Atty. Larry Gadon to Solicitor
General Jose Calida which seeks the action of the latter in the removal of
Supreme Court (SC) Justice Marvic Leonen by filing the same petition that dealt
the ousting of the Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno – a Quo Warranto
proceeding.

“If Sereno (ousted chief justice Ma. Lourdes
Sereno) was ousted from the Supreme Court due to lack of integrity as
exemplified by her non filing of SALNs (statement of assets, liabilities and
net worth) in UP (University of the Philippines) for many years, then there is
no reason why the same standard should not be applied to AJ Leonen,” read the
letter of lawyer Larry Gadon to SolGen Calida.
“I therefore respectfully urge and request the
Office of the Solicitor General to institute Quo Warranto proceedings against
AJ Leonen,” added Gadon.
It might be remembered that Calida filed on
March 5, 2018 a quo warranto petition before the SC which sought to void
Sereno’s 2012 President Aquino appointment at the high court.
The petition argued which was eventually found correct
by the Supreme Court that Sereno failed to submit her SALNs which was one of
the requirements set by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).
