Trillanes proposes 5-point MECQ plan to Duterte Admin: “Kung mag lockdown ng two weeks pero wala rin namang gagawing makabuluhan, wala ring saysay. Lalo lang magko-collapse ang ekonomiya,” - Trillanes

Opposition’s most rabid critic of the President has come up with a set of proposals to combat the pandemic brought about by the novel coronavirus 2019 disease.

It was a five proposal which includes intensified testing and treatment, to combat coronavirus during the August 4-18 modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) of the National Capital Region (NCR) and the four nearest provinces to it.

Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV suggested the conversation of schools into treatment centers and door-to-door testing of people in coronavirus-hit communities. These measures would help in addressing “the worsening cases of COVID-19″ without choking the local economy.

These recommendations were given by the former senator after criticizing the Duterte government’s alleged failure to present a concrete plan during the duration of the MECQ.

“The pitiful condition of our healthcare workers is brought by the Duterte administration’s failure to provide a comprehensive and doable action plan to control the spread of the virus despite the long and harsh lockdown it implemented,” Trillanes said in a Facebook post.

“Kung mag lockdown ng two weeks pero wala rin namang gagawing makabuluhan, wala ring saysay. Lalo lang magko-collapse ang ekonomiya,” he said.

The former lawmaker posted on Facebook the following five proposals:

1. Convert some public schools into makeshift treatment centers for moderate COVID patients.

2. Mobilize willing senior nursing students or unemployed nursing graduates to work with pay as nursing assistants in public or private hospitals at government expense. Provide for makeshift sleeping areas
for them to optimize both resting and service time.

3. Employ family doctors to 6-month contracts with generous compensation.

4. Government to require alcohol and surgical mask producers to increase their production and procure their produce for mass distribution to hospitals, frontliners and disinfection operations.

5. Conduct mobile/door-to-door RT-PCR testing in barangays with high cases of COVID-19. These tests should be free.
