Robredo slams Duterte Govt's sensitivity to criticisms: "Ba’t takot sa batikos kung walang ginagawang mali?"

The camp of Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo is in constant critic mode this time telling Malacanang that with the constant increase of COVID-19 positive cases in the country, it should shape up with respect to its policies and plans in coping, adopting and  giving solutions t the different problems the country is facing.

According to the Vice President’s spokesperson, Barry Gutierrez, the Duterte administration is always defensive with respect to the criticisms with the current policies of the government as regards the COVID-19 pandemic issue.

“Libu-libong stranded. Lumalalang gutom. Ito ba ang itsura ng ‘sapat na response?’ Ang hirap talagang tulungan ang ayaw man lang tanggapin na may problema,” Gutierrez said in a statement (August 27).

Robredo said critics who call out the Duterte administration are either silenced or branded as “enemies.”

“Ang tanong nga natin: Kung walang ginagawang mali, bakit matatakot sa batikos at debate? Kung may mungkahi para mapunan ang kakulangan, hindi ba dapat matuwa pa sila, dahil ibig sabihin nananatili ang pakialam ng maraming mamamayan?” Robredo said.

Taking a swipe at President Rodrigo Duterte’s leadership style, the Vice President added: “Hindi nadadaan ang nation-building sa sindak at dahas at pananakot, kundi sa pakikinig, pag-unawa, at pakikiisa sa araw-araw na pinagdadaanan ng ordinaryong mamamayan.”
