Malacanang slams Kiko Pangilinan's "politicking" COVID-19 policies of Duterte admin

Malacanang did not hold back on the criticisms made by opposition senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

The Palace slammed the Liberal Party president when he made a statement regarding the selection of cabinet members to areas under modified enhanced community quarantine is a form of micromanagement.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, members of the Cabinet, who also form the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, are doing their part to fight against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) as the next victim might be one of their loved ones.

Roque did not hesitate in calling the act of Pangilinan as “politicking” in saying that local government units instead need “competent and upright” national government leaders in efforts to address the pandemic.

“Alam niyo naman malapit na ang eleksyon. Reelectionist itong si Senator Pangilinan. Hindi ako nagtataka sa mga maaanghang na salita niya. Pero if you go by the track record of his own party in similar disasters, his own party had dismal performance,” according to him.

“Everyone is doing their best dahil kapag tayo ay pumalya baka sariling pamilya rin namin ang mag-suffer sa COVID. Wala pong such a thing na natutulog sa pansitan dahil lahat tayo under threat from COVID,” he said.

“We all have families, we all have to take care of them. So, all members of the IATF give it their best shot because they know eventually it may enter their homes,” he added.
