Opposition senator Risa Hontiveros is calling an immediate
full investigation “with no-cover ups” into the twin bombing incidents in Jolo,
Sulu that left at least 14 people dead, and their possible connection to the
killing of four soldiers by nine Jolo policemen last two months ago.
In the privilege speech she gave, the lady senator
said the “full truth, no matter how ugly or inconvenient” behind the two
incidents must be revealed.
“Ano ang kinalaman ng pagbomba sa Jolo nitong
August 24, sa pagpatay sa mga sundalo noong June 29? Did some policemen put
Jolo and our nation at greater risk when they not only interfered with Army
intelligence operations, but also killed our operatives?” Hontiveros said.

“Deretsahang tanong: Did terrorist elements somehow
influence, directly or indirectly, the killing of these soldiers?,” she added.
She notes that the investigation should also tackle
any possible connections with the death of the of the four army intelligence operatives
who were shot and killed by PNP officers. The said military operatives were
reportedly tracking the two female suicide bombers who likely committed the
twin bombing incidents in Jolo.
A recent claim was made by Western Mindanao Command
(WestminCom) chief Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan before lawmakers that
there may be a possible conspiracy between some Philippine National Police officers
in Sulu and terrorists organizations due to family ties.
“Alam ng liderato ng PNP na may coordination. Sa
checkpoint pa lang, alam na ng Jolo police na military personnel ang nakasakay
sa sports utility vehicle (SUV), at iyan ay pinaalam din sa mga opisyal ng PNP.
Kaya kung alam na ng kapulisan na tropa ang nasa sasakyan, bakit sila pinagbabaril?”
Hontiveros said.
