COVID-19 and not "RevGov" is the priority of the Duterte Admin - Malacanang

A small group of pro-Duterte made known their sentiments for a declaration of a revolutionary government which will be headed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte made the opposition raise their voices in condemning the idea.

Vice President Leni Robredo even called such act as “illegal.”

“Ang laking kalokohan niyan, Ka Ely. Una, ano ba iyong gustong sabihin ng call for revolutionary government? Ang gustong sabihin, ang hinihingi dito, itapon iyong Konstitusyon natin. Diyan pa lang, ilegal na iyan,” she said.

Malacanang through a statement said the plan to set up a revolutionary government is not a priority of the administration during the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the government is focused on efforts effectively responding to the Covid-19 crisis.

“The call to establish a revolutionary government came from a private group and the organizers are free to publicly express their opinion,” said Roque.

“The focus, however, of the Administration is addressing Covid-19 and mitigating its socioeconomic impact,” he added.

Maintaining public health while gradually opening up the local economy, according to him, is Duterte’s “most pressing and most urgent concern” that requires full attention.
