Vice President Leni
Robredo is making a last ditch effort in trying to help the 11,000 plus employees
of the Lopez-controlled ABS-CBN Corporation as she urges the government to
spare them from the latter’s desire to settle score with the owners of the
Kapamilya network -the Lopez family.
In the Vice President’s
weekly show in AM radio “Serbisyong Leni” she expressed concern for the plight
of the ABS-CBN employees at risk of losing their jobs after the Kapamilya
network failed to secure a congressional franchise as mandated by law.
Robredo is of the
opinion that the Lopezes should be solely held liable for the networks
violations.

“Sana man lang… sana
man lang, kung paparusahan iyong ABS-CBN, huwag naman sanang… ‘di ba? Kung
iyong galit sa may-ari, mayroong ibang paraan para papanagutin, na hindi naman
sinasakripisyo iyong buhay noong maliliit,” VP Robredo said
The House legislative
franchises committee denied the Lopez-controlled ABS-CBN’s new 25 year
legislative franchise application due to its various alleged legal violations.
Among the alleged
violations noted in the committee hearing’s are the ABS-CBN’s sale of
Philippine Depositary Receipts (PDRs) to foreign investors, its use of tax
avoidance schemes and the dual citizenship of the network’s chairman emeritus,
Gabby Lopez.
