The news that there
are battle ready United States of America Navy in the territorial and
international seas is more than welcomed
now that there are news that despite the COVID-19 pandemic Chinese Navy is
still making its strong presence felt in the disputed areas in the West
Philippine Sea (WPS).
As per report US Navy
Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ticonderoga-class
guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) sailed transited in Balabac
Strait, Palawan last July 15.
Geographically speaking
Balabac Strait is the strait in southern Palawan that connects the West
Philippine Sea (WPS) with Sulu Sea.

USS Nimitz is the lead ship of Nimitz Carrier
Strike Group which also includes Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, the
guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59), and guided-missile destroyers USS
Sterett (DDG 104) and USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114).
On July 17, Nimitz Carrier Strike Group
continued dual-carrier exercises with Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group.
“Nimitz and Reagan Carrier Strike Groups are
operating in the South China Sea, wherever international law allows, to
reinforce our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, a rules based
international order, and to our allies and partners in the region,” said Rear
Adm. Jim Kirk, commander, Nimitz Carrier Strike Group. “Security and stability
is essential to peace and prosperity for all nations, and it is for that reason
the U.S. Navy has been present and ready in the Pacific for over 75 years.”
