Just like others, Jennylyn Mercado stayed tuned to the President’s
fifth (5th) State of the Nation Address (SONA), but she found it lacking.
According to the Kapuso celebrity she could not help but
react when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte asked for every cooperation that all
Filipinos can give in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Okay. But what’s the plan?” Mercadio said in Filipino on
Twitter.

As of press time, the country has around 83 thousand plus COVID-19 cases, with 1,945 deaths and 26,446 recoveries.

In
his SONA the President laid down several government measures in this time of
pandemic, such as the continuation of the social amelioration program.
The
current assistance to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will be
intensified.
In a separate tweet , Jennylyn reiterates the role of the
government is “to promote the welfare of this country whatever the situation we
are in.”

Instead of praising the government, Mercado gave recognition
to the “new heroes” — the doctors, nurses, teachers, soldiers and other
frontliners.
“We salute you. Thank you very much,” she said.
