PRRD thinks LP's Drilon authored ‘onerous’ water deals: ‘Kaya s’ya nag warning’

The name of Liberal Party’s veteran lawmaker senator Franklin Drilon has come up again.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his speech with the soldiers in Jolo, Sulu said he believes that Drilon was among those who crafted the onerous agreement in 1997 concerning the concession agreements with Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water Co.

“Winarningan pa ako ni Drilon. Kaya yan si Drilon hindi talaga ako bilib e. Sabi niya, sabihin mo kay mayor, it will create, magulo masyado yan ang bayan natin,” according to him.

“P*t*ng ina, bakit magkagulo? Winwarningan pa niya ako. But, I think he was one of those who authored it actually. Kaya siya nag-warning early on. Pakisabi kay mayor, in an interview, na wag na lang niyang anuhin yan kay that’s a settled issue between… Sabi ko walang settled-settled issue kung sa kalokohan ninyo,” he also said.

It was December of 2019, the Liberal Party stalwart as a senior counsel of the powerful ACCRALAW which drafted executive order signed by President Fidel V. Ramos in 1997 which laid down the privatization of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), vehemenently denied any doing in the said issue.

“I did not in any manner participate in the drafting of the concession agreement,” the veteran senator said.
