Senator Grace Poe is
sounding the alarm for the slow internet service we have here in the country.
In her social media
post, she is of the opinion that the country deserves better service from our
current internet providers as she laments our situation is in a very sad state.
This was further
emphasized when the lady senator had to cancel the Senate session on internet
connectivity in the country due to a poor connection.

“I can’t believe we
had to suspend the hearing on internet connectivity because of technical issues.
How ironic,” she said. “This country deserves better. #newnormal,” senator Poe said.
In the world ranking
with respect to internet speed, the country is at 110th out of the
174 countries in the world.
The slow connection is
an established fact even as the Philippines has one of the most expensive
internet costs almost the same as Singapore which has a much more faster
internet service.
Cell sites
Earlier the senator
also slammed the National Telecommunications Commission's
"incompetence" for the slow internet speeds in the country.
A research conducted by
Globe Telecom in 2018 showed the Philippines has nearly 17,000 cell sites,
while regional peers Indonesia and Vietnam have 91,000, and 70,000 cell towers,
respectively.
"Napaka incompetent
talaga ng regulator natin, I am sorry to say," Poe said in
an exclusive interview with Ted Failon’s Ngayon in Teleradyo.
