Made in Recto?: Marcoleta seeks probe into ABS-CBN’s ownership of Mother Ignacia property

Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta is not stopping anytime soon with respect to making sure the Lopez controlled ABS-CBN Corporation would be accountable for those it has done against the law.
The lawmaker filed House Resolution 1058 seeking a congressional investigation on the authenticity of Lopez family ABS-CBN’s land title for its 44,000-square meter property along Mother Ignacia Avenue in Quezon City.

Doubts have been raised during the 12 day committee hearing tackling the ABS-CBN legislative franchise, which was eventually denied.

He said he was able to secure a certified a electronic copy of TCT No. 125702 (PR-9690) from the Quezon City Registry of Deeds.

“Upon perusal of the certified electornic copy obtained from the Register of Deeds, the particular part that should indicate the title number of the immediately preceding title was suppressed, while the photocopy of the Owner’s Duplicate copy submitted by ABS-CBN contained the following information: ‘this certificate is a transfer from Transfer Certificate of Title No. 110731/T-557.’ This simply means that the alleged present title of ABS-CBN (TCT No. 125702), is a transfer, or immediately precedes, from Transfer Certificate of Title No. 110731/T-557,” he explained in the resolution.

Marcoleta said further verification of TCT No. 110731/T-557 showed the title “pertains to a property with a totally different technical description, location and area, rendering it difficult, if not impossible, to be the immediate predecessor of ABS-CBN’s title.”
He said there’s “no plausible reason” as to how ABS-CBN’s land title can pertain to its Mother Ignacia property when TCT No. 110731 is the title for a 42-square meter parcel of land in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon.
“It may also be inquired that if ABS-CBN’s title was indeed for ‘provisional reconstitution,’ it should explain why said administrative remedy was not even annotated in said owner’s duplicat title given the direct mandate of LRA Circular No. 3 dated December 6, 1998 on pending reconstitution of titles? ABS-CBN should explain what happened to the application for reconstitution, if there be any,” Marcoleta said.
