Is San Miguel Corp. president & COO Ramon S. Ang, gearing up for Malacanang in 2022?

2022 national elections is still far, but some quarters are already making assertions who can be the best candidate that will succeed a popular President that is Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The very onset of the coronavirus pandemic Ramon Ang was already doing more than his fair share in helping the government and the common Filipinos, even the uneventful death of his son did not deter him in helping as President of San Miguel Corporation (SMC).

Mr. Ang was very quick to deny any speculation on his supposed political plans in 2022.

“Baka isipin niyo ang dami kong sinasabi at may balak akong tumakbo ha, kahit barangay captain po ay wala,” said Ang during the inauguration of San Miguel’s 4,000-a-day (expandable to 12,000) COVID testing facility which he called a game changer due to its low cost (P2,500) and quick results (from three to 24 hours).
It might be recalled that Filipino billionaires have thrown their hats in the political ring only to be defeated by those candidate which have more connection with the masses.
The late SMC chairman and CEO Danding Cojuangco in 1992 and real estate mogul Manny Villar in 2010 are prime examples of those who run and lost despite having so much in their war chest.

As of writing SMC’s COVID-19 efforts have already exceeded P13billion (including P100 million personal donation from Ang) with the SMC President addressing all the major concerns of the public from expanding COVID-19 testing capacity and making them affordable to providing alcohol and protective gear to ensuring food stability and income of farmers.
