‘I am a casualty of the Lopezes (ABS-CBN) during 2016 elections’ - Duterte

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his fifth (5th) State of the Nation Address
The President claims that the Liberal Party member -Drilon’s speech that being rich does not make one an oligarch was made in defense of the Lopez family.

“It is sad that while the government focuses its resources to battle the coronavirus, there are those who take advantage of a preoccupied government. One of them is Senator Franklin Drilon,” according to the President.

“In an interview, he arrogantly mentioned among others that oligarchs need not be rich, then he linked the anti-dynasty system with oligarchy and the topic was my daughter and son,” he added.

The Chief executive accused again the Kapamilya network, the country’s largest television broadcast company of using their media platforms to discredit him.

“Great wealth enables economic elites and corporations to influence public policy to their advantage,” the President said.
“Media is a powerful tool in the hands of the oligarchs like the Lopezes who use their media outlets in their battles with political figures. I am a casualty of the Lopezes during the 2016 elections,” he also said.
