Hontiveros tells Duterte to own up mistakes in handling COVID-19 pandemic

Opposition senator Rissa Hontiveros is calling out President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to own up to the supposed shortcomings of the government with respect to its COVID-19 pandemic response.
The lady senator is hoping that the President’s speech in his fifth 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) “should no longer contain any denials, threats, or any downplaying of the country’s situation amid the pandemic.”

Instead, the opposititon urged MalacaƱang “to accept and apologize for its shortcomings in the last few months.”

Further she said the government under Duterte’s leadership should pledge to improve its service to the people, increase in transparency and accountability for the billions of pesos in funds being used for the country’s COVID-19 response, is certainly most welcomed.

Senator Hontiveros appealed to President Duterte to present plans to stop the COVID-19 crisis.
No theatrics, no threats.
This plan is long-overdue,” she added.
