Opposition Senator Rissa Hontiveros
just could not resist rebuking the official spokesperson of President Rodrigo
Roa Duterte.
This after Presidential Spokesperson
Harry Roque was so happy announcing that the country’s coronavirus infection
numbers were able to beat the projected forecast of the University of the Philippines
by the end of the month of June.
This announcement drew a lot of flak
for Roque as the opposition in their different capacities slammed the
announcement and even said that all the while they were thinking that what is
need to be beaten is the coronavirus and they did not know government was
waging war with UP which as declared by the former.

“Hala. COVID-19 ang kalaban, hindi UP,”
Hontiveros tweeted, June 30.
Roque in his tweet said “Panalo na
tayo. We beat the UP prediction po. We beat it! So, congratulations,
Philippines! Let’s do it again in July,”

The congratulatory salutation was
supposed to be the fact that the country recorded fewer cases compared to the
UP projection of 40,000 by the end of the month of June. The Philippines has
37,514 confirmed cases of coronavirus as of June 30. Deaths reached 1,266 while
recoveries numbered 10,233.
