Opposition senator
Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan slammed President Rodrigo Roa Duterte over the latter’s
claims that he dismantled oligarchs hold in the country even without the
declaration of martial law.
In his post in social
media he said “oligarchs” is not the main problem of the Filipinos, but at the
moment are the threat of the coronavirus, unemployment, and hunger are in need
to be addressed.
“The problem of oligarchs is just made up. The
closure of ABS-CBN has nothing to do with the greater problem brought by COVID.
They just created the problem of oligarchs to deceive the public because the
reality is they don’t have good results to show in responding against the
spread of COVID-19, hunger and unemployment,” said Pangilinan.

“Which one are we going to believe? The made-up
ones or the reality?” he added.
In Jolo, Sulu the President
spoke before the soldiers took pride in saying that he has “dismantling
the oligarchy that controlled the economy of the Philippines” without
implementing Martial Law.
It was made days
after the House of Representatives rejected the new 25 year legislative
application of the Lopez-controlled ABS-CBN corporation by a vote of 70-11, all
because of the legal violations done by the Kapamilya network.
Presidential
Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified that it was not the Lopezes that the
President is referring to but other tycoons namely Lucio Tan, Ayalas, and Manny
V. Pangilinan, all of which the President dealt with personally.
