Otso Derecho losing
senatorial candidate and current Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) chairman
Chel Diokno has made the public
that not stop opposing the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.
“No law will ever cow us into submission,” he
declared in his social media posts.
“At kung gaano kalupit ang batas, ganoon din
katindi ang ganti ng taumbayan,” Diokno assured.

In what they fear the coming of a new dictatorship in the country, Diokno reminded “ang paulit-ulit na pinatunayan—at paulit-ulit na patutunayan—ng mga Pilipino: #DiTayoPasisiil!”
“Duterte’s Anti-Terror Law will terrorize our
democracy, not the terrorists,” Diokno also warned.
Even if the said
measure is already signed as a law, he still calls for its amendments.
He also urges the
public that if petitions have already been filed in the Supreme Court
questioning its constitutionality, the public should be vigilant in the
development of the case.
Senator Pangilinan’s statement regarding the signing into law
of the Anti-Terrorism Act
“Hindi tinutugunan ng
anti-terror law ang problema ng sakit at gutom dulot ng pandemya ngunit
sapilitang itong isinusubo sa taumbayan. Basura ang pilit na isinusubo sa
taumbayan,” Pangilinan said. “Dapat ibasura ang walang kuwentang batas na ito
at handa tayong kwestyunin ang constitutionality ng batas na ito sa Korte
Suprema.”
“I am not surprised.
From Day 1 this Administration unleashed draconian and authoritarian measures
as a showcase of its brand of leadership. These draconian measures however have
been exposed as nothing more than a show of senseless, mindless violence as
means to sow fear amongst the people. From the murderous drug war, to the
longest martial law in Mindanao, to the longest lockdown in the world, and now
to the anti-terror law,” Senator Kiko said.
“The drug war has not
nailed big-time drug lords and drugs still flow after 4 years. Martial law in
Mindanao has failed to address the reconstruction of Marawi. The longest
lockdown has not addressed the continuing spread of COVID. Patunay lahat ito na
hindi kamay na bakal ang solusyon sa ating mga problema,” he added.
