Is Lagundi the
answer?
The country has
always been known for its diverse flora and fauna, and its been ages that have
relied to plants as the primary medicine long long before western medicine was
accepted.
In this line, the
University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital clinical trials on
lagundi as treatment for the novel coronavirus 2019 disease are about to start after the UP_PGH ethics committee issued clearance for tests, DOST Sec. Fortunato dela Peña said.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) projects for the COVID-19 national response,
DOST will be
shouldering all the expenses for the Lagundi clinical trials.
“We approved a budget
of P4.9 million,” Dela Peña told The STAR.
Currently, melatonin,
convalescent plasma and virgin coconut oil (VCO) are undergoing study as a cure
for COVID-19.
DOST will also fund for
the research of tawa-tawa as potential cures for this infectious disease.
